After the fire of April 15, 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris began a complex reconstruction. Archaeologists, architects, geologists and digital specialists study the damaged cathedral to understand how its medieval vaults were originally built.
Fallen stones are examined, scanned and tested, while marks left by medieval stonemasons help researchers reconstruct a collapsed arch. The team also identifies limestone from the Vexin region for the new stones.
