In New Caledonia, botanists explore remote forests in search of rare plants that have not been seen for decades or even more than a century. Guided by specimens and records from the Herbarium of New Caledonia, they investigate the Isle of Pines, mining areas and the Forgotten Coast.
Their expeditions document endangered and potentially new species while revealing the effects of fires, mining, invasive deer and habitat loss. Follow their efforts to study and preserve New Caledonia’s unique flora.
